My motivation is simple and fun. During each run or walk, I take one and only one photo with my cell phone camera, and upload it to my facebook page. It's fun to scout out interesting things to photograph (especially because I usually run early in the morning when it's dark), and it's fun to have a memory of each run or walk. There are a lot of things I haven't yet had a chance to take pictures of, so each run or walk is a new opportunity. I'm also more aware of the visual aspect of my surroundings as I exercise. And when I finish I sometimes do a little research on what I've photographed so at the same time I learn a little bit about my surroundings. It also keeps me accountable -- I have friends who would notice if I stopped posting those photos. One friend (who doesn't seem to need motivation) has started taking pictures during her runs, too.
